Throne of Glass [Series: Book 1-4] by Sarah J. Maas: Review

Hello Daises! May I say exams are exhausting and studying for them is even worse. Worst part of school is the fact that I do not have enough time to read, but when I do... haha... I will not stop. Yes, I am a passionate reader and have been my whole life. Anyone's else heart breaks when they don't have time to read?

I have heard many good things about the series Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas and I finally picked up. I love it and recommend it! An 18-year-old assassin by the name of Celaena Sardothien has been serving a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her actions. However, she is dragged out by the Crown Prince Dorian who offers her freedom, but there is a twist: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.
Throughout the books we see her fighting physically and mentally, we see her endure pain and suffer. It is a series of her finding her true self, dealing with love, pain and loss and finding friends in unbelievable places.
"I am Celaena Sardothien, Adarlan's Assassin. If these men knew who I was, they'd stop laughing. I am Celaena Sardothien. I am going to win. I will not be afraid."
She is the fighter, which we all possess in us.

Personal opinion on each separate book:
  • Throne of Glass (Book One) - this was probably my favourite book since we saw how badass Celaena. We saw her story, we saw the friendship and love to others she built. We saw her deal with the loss of dear ones. We saw what people can be capability and how strong she is to stand up to those people.
  • Crown of Midnight (Book Two) - Where does Celaena's loyalty lie? Lies, deception and death of friends. Can Celaena forgive herself and others of her friends death? We also see Celaena's true potential.
  • Heir of Fire (Book Three) - I must say that this book was very tedious for me. It dragged on for too long. That's what it seemed like. Apart from that the reader got to meet Rowan. Ok, I needed to include that, because I ship Rowan and Celaena! <3 I'm sorry to the people who ship her with Dorian or Chaol. Don't hurt me!! *dodges attacks* This book also reveals the complete truth about Celaena Sardothien as she discovers who she is.
  • Queen of Shadows (Book Four) - A fight to save her friends, the kingdom and the lands around. And I must admit Celaena/Rowan together in this book are fucking adorable!! *fangirling*

List of songs I listened to when reading the series (in order of what I listened to the most): Is anyone else like this? They have a specific playlist for a book.

Book 5 soon to be published!! Expected in 2016.

What's in my Bag and Makeup Bag?

Hello Daisies! I apologize for not updating my blog for over 2 weeks, it has been hectic. Especially with assessments and tests. I decided why not do a double post today. What's in my bag + what's in my makeup bag. Wow very original Gabi.. It's not like anyone else has done it too and better. Let's get to it.

As you can see from the above photo, my handbag is from Guess. It is a Guess Doheny Satchel Black Multi. It has a shorter strap, but it also comes with a clip on longer one too. Inside it is lined with a pink fabric and has 1 zipper pocket, 1 phone pocket and just another standard pocket with no zipper. It is quite a small bag, but fits a lot. Hi Norman! That would be one of my dogs in the background.

All the not obvious items are listed in the image, but i'll list them here anyway below (from left to right).
  • A small notebook - Typo
  • My wallet (Laura Jones Large Clutch Tan/Ivory) - Strandbags
  • Standard deodorant - Dove
  • Perfume - SJP NYC
  • A pencil case (green) - unknown brand
  • Elastic bands
  • My keys with a heart, butterfly, key and bunny key chains
  • Sunglasses - Rivers
  • Portable charger - Powerseed Angel Eye
  • Tissues - Kleenex
  • Pencil case (Oh the Places we will Go) - Typo
  • Earphones - Apple
  • My phone - Apple (it is not in the above photo, since I was taking the picture with it)

This is my makeup bag, which I only use for my purse. It's not even a proper makeup bag, it is literally a pencil case from Typo. hehe
These are the items I keep in it (left to right).
  • Naturals Hand Cream Pomegranate - The Body Shop Australia
  • Lip balm (Milk and Honey/ Strawberry) - Nivea
  • Lipgloss (clear) and lipstick (nude) - OXX tbh I do not recommend the lip products from this brand since they are very drying on the lips. BUT some of their eye makeup products are good.
  • Panadol
  • Hair elastics and clips
Thank you for your patience for both reading and waiting for this post to come. Comment down below what you guys have in your bag! Bye xx

August Favourites: 2015

Nothing new I suppose, I've done a couple of these and of course forgetful me, didn't do also a couple. Sorry. This is my August Favourites of 2015, hope you enjoy.
This month I do not have many favourites, since it was a busy month filled with tests and assessments, still is, i'm so over school...

Other: First favourite is this travel notebook. I bought this in a bookshop, which was closing down for $10. I haven't started to write in it, until a couple days ago. I did not use it as a travel book, but rather as a notebook filled with my thoughts and plans.
The newly released Digimon Hereos! game app. It has over a 1000 Digimon characters! I'm already on level 20. What are you on?
Lastly from this part of the list is Netflix. Do I even need to say anything about Netflix?

TV shows: Doctor Who, Digimon Fusion, Dragons: Race to the Edge. None of those I have finished, but they are my favourite so far.

Books: I have not read many books this month, but 2 books stood out. Stolen by Lucy Christopher and Lord of the Flies by William Golding. I am yet to complete Lord of the Flies. Coughs..only half way through.
Stolen is a letter form novel about Gemma, a girl who was kidnapped from an airport by a mysterious guy of the name Ty and brought to an isolated location of emptiness and heat. Ty stated that he saved her from her life. Did he save her?
Lord of the Flies is about a plane crashing on an island with the only survivors a group of schoolboys. It is a book depicting the physical and mental struggle that the boys endured and how it further changed them.

Music: One word - Halsey. Love love love. My favourite song would be Drive and she just released the Badlands Deluxe album! <3

Sick Day Essentials

Hello Daisies! I sincerely apologize for not posting anything recently. It is because I was unwell and just slept most of the day. Since I have been sick, what I good way to give others some tips of some essentials.
  1. Tissues - we all need some tissues when a tsunami is pouring out our nose. Don't lie to me, I know it is disgusting, but it happens to everyone! Tissues must be soft. (Optional: I like the ones with eucalyptus or with aloe vera or with Vitamin E).
  2. Cough/Throat lollies - my personal favourite are Vicks VapoNaturals (either Honey or Original Menthol). They sooth the throat and clear the nose.
  3. Pyjamas or anything comfortable, but seriously PJ's are the best!
  4. Lip balm, moisturiser vaseline - Even though you will have ideal tissues, if you are going to use a ton of them you will irritate your nose. Lip balm for them chapped lips and moisturiser for face/ hands
  5. Audio book - yes, an audio book what a shocker. When I am personally sick, my brain does not function properly and refuses to concentrate on words on a page. If you are a book lover like I am, then a book to survive sickness is a must. That is why I recommend audio books. Personally not a fan of them. :/ You can either find them on Audible, YouTube or other places. *Tip - You can find sometimes on some YouTubers channel a code for their viewers to get the 1st Audible book free!
  6. Sleep + Water - To hep your body repair itself faster. zzzzzzzzzzzz
  7. Netflix/ Youtube or any other video watching website - no explanation needed, haha.
  8. Tea - both refreshing and calming.
Thank for reading this version of sick day essentials. Comment down below if I have missed anything! Goodbye Daises! :)

A Second 'First Post'? + 10 Facts About Me

Hello, my Daisies! (Daisies?! Where did that come from?) What is happening to my blog? Ah, nobody knows. It is a rise and fall of me blogging - including my creativity! Oh my!
I would like to apologize sincerely for my blog activity and with that I am going to start all over. Don't worry my darlings, I ain't going to delete my posts.

Why am I starting over? New me, it is as simple as that. Over the years I have progressed and I am not the same me as I was 2 years ago when I started this blog. I just want a fresh start.

Why 'Daisies'? Since I noticed that people actually read this blog, that I am not a just typing up my thoughts for nothing, I wanted to give you guys a name, something unique. (Really? Is Daisies that unique?) I picked Daisies since they are one of my favourite flowers and my blog name includes the word 'Meadow'. It just seemed perfect.

Now, because you guys were this patient and (maybe) read the above paragraphs, this is 10 facts about the 'new' me (not in specific order).
  1. I am slightly addicted to candles. Each time I go shopping I come back with at least one candle.
  2. My passion for reading. I loved to read since a young age, anything and everything. I would sit against a wall at school and just read endlessly. Over the years one thing has slightly allowed my to read less - time. I had less and less time, since I concentrated on school work.
  3. My lucky charm is actually a ring. Any ring to be honest. I always wear a ring on. (Even when my school doesn't permit it.)
  4. I actually enjoy school and think it is an essential part of life. Not only do I educate myself, but I also meet wonderful people and discover myself. And I even do enjoy writing essays and doing homework.
  5. I used to (and something still do) feel so badly insecure of myself that I would apologize for my personality and physical appearance. What made me feel better and change was certain YouTube channels. On that topic I add that I used to be terrified of photos of me, because of my insecurity. I am becoming better and actually do take some photos of myself occasionally.
  6. I am addicted to technology and the Internet. I will not even say 'slightly', because this might even be a serious problem. *laughs* But who isn't?
  7. Music is a must for every situation. I must play music, it calms me down and makes me feel happy. (Yes, I am listening to music this second - Love At First Sight (TEEMID & Julia Cover) ~ Kylie Minogue -)
  8. I never rarely drink water. To the point that I have been dehydrated twice severely and had to go to the hospital. I forget to drink water, I never think it as part of my day...and I am a specific water drinker. I must have it super cold, freezing and have ice cubes in it.
  9. I love doing anything creative, especially drawing. When I was younger I wished to be an artist, but my Dad ruined that dream by telling me I am not good enough. I was sad at the beginning, but soon accepted it. I am not the best at drawing, but I still love to do it. [https://instagram.com/gusia99/  <-- this is where I post my drawings, if anyone is willing to see]
  10. My first dream job was to be an archeologist, but my Mum and grandma told me I would of not been good enough at it and it would of not been a job that pays a lot. But I secretly still want to be one or at least something similar in the history department of jobs.
This is the end of this post, I hope you Daisies understand why I am starting all over again.
